II. Measurement Method of the In-situ Pressure Machine:
1. First, excavate two horizontal slot holes in the wall
① Upper horizontal slot dimensions should be 240mm×250mm×70mm (depth×width×height)
② Lower horizontal slot dimensions: 240mm×250mm×140mm (depth×width×height), (the height of the lower slot is adjusted according to the pressure machine model)
③ Align the upper and lower horizontal slot holes, with 7 brick layers between the two slots, clear distance about 430mm; ④ Level the bearing surface of the masonry between the slots.
2. Install the in-situ pressure machine
① Evenly lay a 10mm thick wet fine sand cushion or other materials like gypsum on the lower surface of the upper slot and the top surface of the flat jack to facilitate uniform force distribution.
② Place the reaction plate in the upper slot hole and the flat jack in the lower slot hole, align the two bearing plates vertically, then tighten the nuts and adjust their parallelism.
3. Trial loading: Check if the testing system is sensitive and whether the contact between the upper and lower platens and the masonry bearing surface is uniform and tight. After confirming normal conditions, unload and begin the test.
4. Formal testing: Load in stages, each stage being about 10% of the estimated failure load, up to 80% of the estimated failure load, then continue loading until the masonry between the slots fails (when cracks in the slot masonry expand rapidly and the pressure gauge needle noticeably retreats, this indicates the failure load of the slot masonry).
5. Convert the failure load into the compressive strength of the slot masonry and the standard masonry compressive strength, then compare with the design value to determine the true strength of the existing masonry.

III. Maintenance and Care of the In-situ Pressure Machine
1. After testing, wipe the equipment clean with cotton yarn for next use.
2. Handle all components gently; strictly avoid collisions or hammering to prevent damage. Always operate according to the procedures.
3. Do not arbitrarily add rings or pads to the machine.
4. Before use, first inspect all parts of the machine: check if the oil tank has oil, ensure all seals are tightened to prevent oil leakage.
